A Support Group for Working Moms

Tuesday, June 1st, 2010

More Than Moms is a support group for working mothers in the Northwest Arkansas area. Join us for local meetups, playdates, mom’s nights out, dad’s nights out, mom’s lunches, overnight excursions, and various other activities.

Whether you work at home, outside the home, full-time or part-time, or are a student, you are welcome. Whether you are married or single, have multiple children, one child, or are expecting your first child, you are all welcome.

It takes a special kind of driven, passionate person to devote her life not only to her children and family, but also to a career, all the while trying to find the balance and time for all for her responsibilities. This group was created to get to know like-minded women who enjoy their lives outside of serving the all-important role of being a mother. There are multiple groups that support stay at home mothers, but this is the only group in the Northwest Arkansas area that was created to those of us moms who choose to lead a professional and domestic lifestyle.

Join today to make long-lasting friendships for yourself, your children and, of course, to have fun!

“A woman has got to be able to say, and not feel guilty, ‘Who am I, and what do I want out of life?’ She mustn’t feel selfish and neurotic if she wants goals of her own, outside of husband and children.” -Betty Friedan

November 2:  Screamfree Parenting and Making a Positive Outcome: As Dr Phil would say, “Is that working for you”? We tend to repeat discipline patterns that we inherited.  Now, let’s learn new ways to make a positive outcome and bring some peace into the home.

November 9:  Ages and Stages: What should my child be doing now?  Great handouts and discussions on development and social issues for ages birth to 12 yrs.  Whether you think your child is advanced or not quite on target-ease your concerns and join other parents as we prepare for the milestones.

November 23: Boys will be Boys: How can I connect with mine? The older they get the harder boys are to communicate with. Yes, they can be a challenge, yet learning to connect can go a long way in the development of a confident boy. Information given is based on the top research.  To help you connect you’ll receive ideas, handouts and a special gift to take home.

November 30: Nurture Shock-New Thinking About Children: This session is based on the new book by Po Bronson & Ashley Merryman. They have written what is destined to become one of the most provocative and influential books about children of our time. Who has the most influence in your child’s life? Why are our kids becoming more aggressive? There are nine chapters that discuss current issues and trends in a researched based outcome. Purchase your book in advance at Pages of Parenting Bookstore. This is an eye opening book.
